VMware vCloud Availability (vCAv) to ensure high availability of data

VMware vCloud Availability provides replication and failover capabilities for vCloud Director and vCenter Server workloads at the virtual machine and vApp level. The service operates through the VMware Cloud Provider Program and, depending on the installation type, provides recovery for cloud and on-premises environments, veeam backup and replication. Practical examples:

  • Replication management and monitoring of replications from a local site to a cloud site and vice versa.
  • Failover recovery of cloud workloads to on-premises site.
  • Migrate protected virtual machines from a cloud site back to an on-premises device.
  • Self-service protection and virtual machine failover workflows (VM).
  • Single installation package as a Photon-based virtual device.
  • The ability of each deployment to serve as a source, as well as an instance (website) vCloud Director for recovery.
  • Symmetric replication flow, which can be launched from both the source site, and from the vCloud Director website for recovery.
  • Replication and recovery of vApps and virtual machines between vCloud Director sites .
  • Using vCloud Availability installation on one site, you can migrate vApps and virtual machines between virtual data centers, that belong to the same vCloud Director organization.
  • Built-in secure tunneling does not require incoming open ports on the local site.
  • Integration with existing vSphere environments .
  • Multi-user support.
  • Built-in encryption or encryption and compression of replication traffic.
  • Supports multiple versions of vCenter Server and ESXi.
