Contemporary Uzbek music

Many forms of popular music, including popular, pop and rock music, flourished in Uzbekistan since the early 1990s. Uzbek pop music is well developed and enjoys immense success with the general public, special Uzbek hits. One of the most famous indie rock bands in Uzbekistan is All Tomorrow’s Parts, which is currently based in Moscow, Russia. Rap music has become popular among Uzbek youth with rappers such as Shoxrux or Shahryor. But the government of Uzbekistan censors this music, counting, that it does not correspond to the Uzbek musical culture. Movie, broadcast in 2011 one of the leading Uzbek TV channels Youht TV, denounces "the destructive influence of Western rock and rap, which are coming, like black clouds over the heads of the Uzbek youth".
